What So Not, Australia's sensational electronic music artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Hollywood Palladium!
What So Not is a solo project of Australian DJ and record producer Chris Emerson (who goes by the stage name Emoh Instead). While his musical style can be broadly classified as electronic, it's best described as a blend of down tempo (genre of electronic music similar to ambient, but with a greater emphasis on rhythm, and is not as earthy as trip hop), house (an electronic music style that began in Chicago in the early 80, characterized by repetitive 4/4 beats, rhythms mainly provided by drum machines, off-beat hi hat cymbals, and synthesized basslines), trap (a subgenre of Southern hip hop that originated in the 1990s and is characterized by ominous lyrics, heavy kick drums from a Roland TR 808 synthesizer, double time division hi hats, and layered synthesizers), and indie electronic (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs). He's had a stellar career with 4 extended plays, 16 singles, and he's collaborated with RL Grime, Dillon Francis, Rome Fortune, Skrillex, Kimbra, and many other renowned artists. He's also performed at many major music events including Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Pukkelpop, Ultra Music Festival, and Lollapalooza. His latest debut album (Not All The Beautiful Things) comes out in March 2018.
